Through Air & Water is the story of Will Forman, a WWII fighter pilot who after the war designed the first American deep sea submersible for the Navy, Deep Jeep. Will spent the rest of his life working with subs, creating and innovating new designs for decades. At 90 years old, Will is revisiting a sub he designed 50 years ago to cross the Pacific without surfacing. At this point in his life, Will has stayed curious and active. While working on the model sub, Will is training to hike Angel’s Landing in Utah.

This film will explore the distinctive artwork of Chester Gould as seen through the eyes of conventional and underground cartoon/comic artists, including interviews with Dick Locher (Dick Tracy), Max Allan Collins (Dick Tracy), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Russell Myers (Broomhilda), Art Spiegelman (Maus), Robert Crumb (Zap comix), Jay Lynch (Bijou comix), Bill Griffith (Zippy the Clown) will detail how Gould¹s endless procession of bizarre characters, cliff hanger storylines, the use of bold lettering and high contrast to direct the attention of the reader made a deep impression in th

This untitled film documents advertising legend Tom Burrell, his upbringing on Chicago’s south side, entry into advertising, his creation of Burrell Communications Group and his post-retirement work authoring Brainwashed: Challenging the Myth of Black Inferiority. His subsequent non-profit group and speaking engagements are dedicated to promoting intra-racial dialogue. The film gained its genesis in Kartemquin Films’s Diverse Voices in Documentary Workshop.
