When news of a violent attack sends shockwaves through an elite college campus, a freshman becomes swept up in escalating rumors and political outrage, slowly realizing the victim may be the friend she confessed her feelings to the night before.
This short narrative film explores identity, institutional failure, and the weaponization of public grief.
BLUE LIGHT is directed by Darcy Cagen, a writer and filmmaker from Chicago. Her debut short film, FRANCIS BACON, has screened at film festivals worldwide, including the Palm Springs International ShortFest, PÖFF Shorts (Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival), and IFFBoston. She has a bachelor's in film studies from Barnard College of Columbia University.
