This is the Chicago premiere of a new digital restoration of Nina Menkes' third feature, THE BLOODY CHILD (1996). The film, which offers a deconstructed retelling of a murder investigation on a U.S. military base, is an essential landmark of experimental filmmaking that provides a blistering indictment of patriarchal notions of justice. An Arbelos Films release. New restoration by The Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation, with funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.
