Masterwork: Industry Conversations is a series of live interviews with long-established and award-winning filmmakers with ties to Chicago. Each live interview is followed by a Q&A with the audience. Join us to learn all about these filmmakers’ journeys in the film and television world and their secrets to success.

Lizzie Cook is a Costume Designer who began her career in film in 1999. After working in various roles in the film industry including as an office and set Production Assistant, and in the AD Department, she found her home in the Costume Department. Lizzie worked her way through the costume department to learn the ins-and-outs of how the department is run, and what it takes to collaborate and work with other departments.

Along with commercials, her most recent work includes costume design for the Jordan Peele film Candyman. A "spiritual sequel" to the 1992 horror film Candyman that returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began. Other recent projects Lizzy has worked on include costume design for Sense8, Empire, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Instant Family. Horror movies are her favorite genre to work in, but she loves working with anyone collaborative, with a preference for projects that embody the weird and eccentric.

When she's not designing for films, she creates swimwear for her company, Fenton Fox, travels as much as possible, and pets any dog within sight. Based in Chicago, Lizzie primarily works on local film productions, but her love for travel ensures that she's happy to go anywhere, big city or the middle of nowhere.

Our guest for this edition of Masterworks is Chicago-based costume designer Lizzie Cook! Learn more about her work here.
