CASTAWAY
Castaway follows the story of Victor, a Catholic man, who makes the heartbreaking decision to cast out his queer teenage son, Jaime, after pressure from his conservative wife and religious community. In a pivotal act of defiance against everything he once believed, Victor chooses to reach out to Jaime, risking his marriage and social standing to repair what he broke.
Told with restraint and compassion, Castaway invites viewers into the inner world of a father struggling to unlearn what he thought love was supposed to look like and to reach for the kind he never allowed himself to give. With a visual language that favors authenticity, simplicity, and intimacy, this film reflects the nuanced emotional realities of queer and Latinx communities often left out of mainstream narratives.
