Join us for an evening in celebration of the life and works of late filmmaker Todd Lillethun. We will be screening a program of his films including: God Is A Chocolate Ice Cream Cake with Vanilla Frosting, Night Bus, Safe Word and The Quit, which screened at Reeling Film Festival in 2018.
Todd was Program Director at Chicago Filmmakers for four years, from 2008-2012. As a film programmer, Todd had a wide range of film tastes and knowledge, but made his particular mark on Chicago Filmmakers’ film exhibition series by successfully pursuing narrative feature films that had been premiered at festivals such as Sundance and SXSW but had not found their place in mainstream distribution. He later served on the 2014 grant awards jury for Chicago Filmmakers’ Chicago Digital Media Production Fund and the 2015 documentary jury for Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival. Two of his satirical narrative films had been screened at Reeling, including SAFE WORD (2014) and his last film, THE QUIT (2018), which was shown at last year’s festival. In addition to his work at Chicago Filmmakers, Todd had been a social worker for thirteen years and a career counselor for film students at Northwestern University for three years.
Todd passed away November 14, 2018. You can read more about his life and legacy here.
