Recording clean audio on location is often considered the “Achilles' heel” to many low-budget film productions. Unfortunately, poor audio can’t always “be fixed in post.” In this hands-on workshop, students will be taken through the recording techniques and responsibilities of a sound team while using professional microphones, and state-of-the-art mixers and audio recorders. Students will participate in a variety of recording techniques including recording solo and group musical performances, interviews, sound effects and background room-tone as well as sync and non-sync dialog for film and video.
By the end of this workshop students will have mastered how to place and hide lavalier mics, booming, how to communicate effectively with the camera, as well as how to prepare, preserve, and record clean audio on set. This workshop is designed to bring professional production values and mindfulness into audio/visual work and is perfect for filmmakers, musicians, journalists, and artists of all experience levels.
