With most editing sessions these days happening on filmmakers’ laptops, the potential for technical issues with a master file is significant. But what is a master file and more importantly what makes a good master file? These questions and more will be answered in Post-post production – meaning everything that takes place after editing. This new one-day workshop will cover best practices for exporting files that need to be sent out for finishing services including color correction or sound editing, video compression and how to get the highest quality image out of your video when uploading to the web, as well as technical specifications for uploading to streaming services and broadcast stations. Best practices for creating digital cinema packages (DCP) – a standard projection format all filmmakers should understand if preparing for film festivals – will also be covered.
